Extracurricular Classes (ECC)

In addition to the general music program, Lower School students at The First Academy may choose to participate in extracurricular classes (ECC) that offer more in-depth exposure to the performing arts.

ECC courses are offered to students in third, fourth and fifth grades (Royal Choir for third-fifth grade students- ECC Band for fourth and fifth grade students). These are fee-based courses (for choir) and instrument rental (for band) and introduce students to the disciplines of choir and band. Students are released from their regular classes to attend the ECC courses held during the school day. Students taking ECC are still responsible for any regular class work that they miss, although classroom teachers attempt to utilize ECC time to explore enrichment material rather than introduce new material. ECC courses are not graded. Registration for ECC requires a registration form (and fee for choir).

Royal Choir (ECC)

Royal Choir is open to third-fifth grade students. Music selections will encourage to students to sing a variety of musical styles and genres. While learning songs in simple two/three-part harmony students will also learn proper vocal technique and sound production.

The Royal Choir experience emphasizes ensemble and solo vocal performance for proper technique, musicianship, and repertoire. Concerts provide students the opportunity to perform in front of others as well as minister to the audience through music while having fun! The Royal Choir past performances include Pastor Appreciation, the Joy Club, First Presbyterian Church of Orlando, TFA chapels, the All-school Christmas Program, Grandparents Day, Veterans Day, and the National Anthem for an Orlando Magic game.
