The purpose of The First Academy’s athletic program is to fulfill the mission of the school through competition in interscholastic sports. The objective of the program at all levels is to develop a lifestyle of mental, physical and spiritual fitness that is manifested through self-discipline, sportsmanship, cooperation, loyalty, and pride in one's self, school, and community.

The school is a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association and is proud to field varsity teams in 21 different sports. Participation is offered at the appropriate level as early as the sixth grade, with an average of 78% of the total student population in grades 6 through 12 participating in at least one sport.

The school has won numerous district, region, and state titles as well as 18 academic team championships. In 2007, The First Academy was selected to receive an inaugural FHSAA Rozelle Sportsmanship Award, only one of seven schools so honored in the state of Florida.
